BUNBURY EQUINE ART
PAINTING HORSES FROM LIFE
About
Madeleine de St Pierre Bunbury was born in 1995 on Mustique Island.
She was educated in Dorset and trained in traditional portraiture for three years at Charles Cecil Studios in Florence. It was here that she learned the traditional "sight size" technique and painting from life under natural light.

Madeleine's talent extends well beyond depicting the horses in front of her. Painting from life, Madeleine is able to offer not only an accurate representation of the horses, but an honest insight into what makes each of them special.
"I concentrate on painting horses life size in a traditional style, from life, using my own hand ground paints and hand stretched canvases. I feel this style helps me to achieve an expressive representation which is unparalleled by modern photo realistic paintings." (Madeleine, on her technique)

Madeleine has adored horses all her life, and this love lends an emotional, passionate quality to her work. For Madeleine, it is imperative to know the horse she paints. It is her willingness and ability to connect with her subjects that makes her art so special.

The last few years have been extremely busy for Madeleine. Word has travelled fast, and she has been commissioned to paint all around the U.K., as well as in the United States and Italy. She is tireless and conscientious, and hopes to announce exciting projects in the near future - stay tuned!
